Energy efficiency retrofit programmes are progressing the decarbonisation of housing in the UK. But these programmes are all too often reliant on grant funding, indicating a missed opportunity to integrate retrofit into a core element of housing association’s strategic asset management business. How do we bring the siloed strands of damp and mould, energy efficiency and building safety together under one programme of property works? With limited resources, how do we target the biggest impact areas from a health, safety and warmth perspective? And how do we meet standards and regulations whilst extending the lifespan of properties, ensuring value for money?
